| Description | The Autoconvocatoria NO al ALCA is an open coalition of social, religious, political, and cultural organizations, joining forces since 2002 to sensitize, educate, organize, and mobilize in Argentina against the free trade paradigm and annexionist proposal of the FTAA. Among other initiatives, the Autoconvocatoria organized a popular referendum in 2003, in which more than two million people expressed their opinions, overwhelmingly in opposition to the FTAA, payment of the external debt, and the introduction of foregin military personnel in the country. At present, the Autoconvocatoria is organizing the III Summit of the Peoples of America, to be held in Mar del Plata, Argentina, November 1-5, 2005. |
