| Description | BAN seeks to achieve global environmental justice and to prevent the globalization of the
toxics crisis via "toxic trade" -- in toxic wastes, toxic products and toxic technologies that are
exported from rich to poorer countries. As an alternative, BAN seeks precautionary,
preventative action to stem the global toxics crisis by eliminating toxic chemicals from
production and commerce and substituting these uses with safer alternatives. We aim to
enforce this conversion through international law, by harnassing public pressure, and by
enforcing the practicing ecological economics -- a new paradigm which requires that all present and future environmental and social costs
of pollution be accounted for and internalized. |
